Equipmake APM 200: High-Performance Electric Motor

The Equipmake APM 200 is a high-performance electric motor designed to combine strong power and torque output with a compact package. The motor delivers a maximum power output of 220 kW and maximum motor torque of 450 Nm, while operating at speeds of up to 10,000 rpm. These characteristics make the APM 200 suitable for applications where power density and efficient packaging are important considerations.

The motor itself weighs 40 kg. Equipmake also specifies a 9 kg reduction gearbox and a 12 kg inverter as part of the associated system. The motor and gearbox assembly measures 318 mm in diameter and 247 mm in length, providing engineers with clearly defined dimensions when assessing installation requirements.

One of the key options available with the APM 200 is an integral 5.5:1 epicyclic reduction gearbox. While the motor produces up to 450 Nm, the gearbox configuration increases maximum driveshaft torque to 2,475 Nm. This allows the high-speed characteristics of the electric motor to be translated into substantially higher torque at the output.

Cooling is another important element of the APM 200 design. Equipmake uses a unique spoke architecture that allows the rotor to be liquid cooled. According to the product leaflet, this approach increases the motor’s continuous power output capability. The specified cooling system uses water/glycol with a coolant temperature of 60°C.

The performance chart on page 1 illustrates how motor torque changes as rotational speed increases and compares operation across several supply voltages, including 600 V, 650 V, 700 V and 750 V. It shows the APM 200 maintaining high torque through the lower-speed range before torque progressively decreases as speed rises.

Overall, the APM 200 combines 220 kW peak power, 450 Nm motor torque, 10,000 rpm operation and an optional reduction gearbox in a relatively compact electric drive package.
