Equipmake HTM-3500 Tandem: 800 kW and 7,000 Nm Electric Drive

The tandem version of Equipmake’s HTM-3500 combines two motor units to provide substantially greater power and torque for heavy commercial vehicle applications. The configuration produces maximum power of 800 kW and maximum motor torque of 7,000 Nm while retaining the HTM-3500’s maximum operating speed of 3,500 rpm.

The tandem assembly weighs 390 kg and measures 540 mm in diameter, 480 mm in length and 607 mm in height. Cooling uses a water/glycol circuit with a specified coolant temperature of 60°C and a typical flow rate of 30 litres per minute.

Equipmake designed the HTM-3500 platform to be available in both single and tandem configurations. The single unit produces half the power and torque of the tandem version, allowing powertrain designers to select the configuration that best matches vehicle requirements.

A key feature of the motor is its direct-drive architecture. The HTM-3500 is designed to drive the prop shaft directly, combining high torque with relatively low motor speed. Equipmake describes these characteristics as particularly suitable for heavy commercial vehicles.

The performance chart on page 2 shows the operating envelope of the tandem HTM-3500 at 650 Vdc. It plots peak torque and peak power alongside continuous torque and continuous power under different coolant-temperature conditions. The chart demonstrates the very high torque available at lower motor speeds and the transition towards a power-dominated operating region as rotational speed increases.

For applications requiring less output, a single HTM-3500 provides 400 kW and 3,500 Nm. The tandem configuration effectively doubles those headline figures to 800 kW and 7,000 Nm.

This combination of very high torque, direct prop-shaft drive and scalable single or tandem architecture makes the HTM-3500 platform particularly relevant to electrification projects involving buses, trucks and other heavy commercial vehicles.
