THE CHALLENGE:
Emergency One, the UK’s dominant fire truck manufacturer (holding 80% of the domestic market), needed to develop a next-generation electric fire appliance. The application presented multiple complexities, including onboard power management, operational reliability, and charging infrastructure, especially during emergency deployment.
THE SOLUTION:
Equipmake supplied and integrated the full electric drivetrain, delivering a bespoke solution for Emergency One’s advanced fire truck platform. Together, the companies also co-developed a pioneering high-power vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging system, enabling electric fire engines to recharge each other in the field — a game-changing capability for emergency response.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
- Fully integrated electric propulsion and auxiliary systems
- System includes onboard V2V charging capability
- First trials scheduled with London Fire Brigade in Q1 2026
- Product to be scaled internationally via REV Group (Emergency One’s U.S. parent company)
WHAT THE CLIENT HAD TO SAY:
“We’re proud to be leading the future of fire-fighting technology with a fully electric fleet. Equipmake’s drivetrain and V2V innovation set a new bar for sustainability and functionality in emergency response.”
